CRT Remedial Site Assessment
Controlled Release Technologies, Inc. | Clearwater, Florida | 2007 - 2010

BCI was hired by Controlled Release Technologies, Inc. to prepare a Remedial Site Assessment Report for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) concerning a potentially hazardous contamination site. The contamination occurred as a result of a fire within an on-site warehouse. The fire ruptured some containers that contained sodium hydroxide, which could have ultimately produced hazardous concentrations of soil and groundwater contamination.

BCI performed on-site soil and groundwater analysis via hand augers and installed groundwater monitoring wells. The monitoring wells were evaluated for groundwater flow, water elevations, and specific water quality parameters.

A criteria analysis was performed to demonstrate the site chemistry results as they compare to the FDEP Soil and Groundwater Target Cleanup levels. The results showed the site was within regulatory limits. Closure of the site was subsequently approved by the FDEP. Groundwater monitoring wells were abandoned following site closure.
