Biography
Mr. Sweatman has extensive experience in a broad spectrum of environmental and regulatory compliance issues. Having completed hundreds of projects throughout the state of Michigan, Mr. Sweatman has acquired first-hand knowledge and experience in working with the various regulatory agencies. Mark has worked with both private and public clients including attorneys, financial institutions, municipalities, private developers and commercial/industrial businesses. He has developed a clear understanding of the varying needs and goals of each of these customer types.
Mr. Sweatman began his career with BCI in 2006, but his association with the industry spans more than 25 years. He has worked as an environmental compliance director for a multinational commercial hazardous waste treatment company, and, since 1995, has been providing hydrogeologic consulting services to municipal and industrial clients as President of Insight Environmental Services. With the merger of BCI and Insight in 2006, Mr. Sweatman adds his professionalism and expertise to the BCI team.
Mr. Sweatman has co-authored several publications in the field of geotechnical services. In addition, he has been an adjunct professor at Cleary College and Eastern Michigan University.Teaching activities included courses in hydrogeology, geology, environmental science, regional geography, geologic sciences, and health & safety at hazardous materials sites.

Groundwater Exploration and Development of Supply
Lyon Township, Michigan
Principal In Charge: Responsible for completion of an evaluation of a seven-mile area in search of a 2,000-gallon per minute water supply. Completed detailed hydrogeologic investigation of the area, pilot borings on multiple properties, geophysical evaluations, test well installations, permitting and aquifer pumping test for the development of a Type I public water supply well. The water supply evaluation was accepted by the MDEQ and the production wells permitted by the MDEQ. Following permitting, the well was donated to the local municipality. This water supply well is providing water to the planned unit development and portions of the local municipality.

Residential Wastewater Discharge Evaluations
Southeast Michigan
Principal In Charge: Responsible for completion of multiple residential wastewater supply evaluations for residential developments in southeastern Michigan. Coordinating staff, drilling and analytical services, determining areas of investigation, data review, hydrogeologic evaluations and final review of reports. Insight's reports have been approved by the MDEQ. Permitted capacities of these discharge sites have ranged from 20,000 to 3,000,000-gallons per day.

MDEQ Type II and EDA Subtitle D Landfills
Private Client, Michigan
Principal In Charge: Responsible for completion of remedial investigations, hydrogeologic evaluations and environmental monitoring of multiple non-hazardous waste disposal landfills in Michigan. Completed evaluation of hydrogeologic and environmental data and assisted client in the acquisition of an existing disposal site. Activities completed included hydrogeologic evaluations, environmental assessments, development of monitoring plans and statistical evaluation programs in support of landfill expansion permit applications. Plans were reviewed and approved by the MDEQ. Currently collecting and evaluating, on a quarterly basis, hydrogeologic monitoring data and submitting quarterly reports to the MDEQ.

Municipal Waste Landfill
Ann Arbor, Michigan
Principal In Charge: Responsible for completion of hydrogeologic evaluations and environmental monitoring of a closed non-hazardous waste landfill in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Activities completed include a remedial investigation, revision to a remedial action plan and development of groundwater, leachate and landfill gas monitoring plans. Plans were reviewed and approved by the MDEQ. Evaluated the efficiency of a bentonite clay slurry wall, options and specification of a methane collection system, design of purge well system and installed replacement purge wells. Currently collecting and evaluating, on a quarterly basis, hydrogeologic monitoring data and submitting quarterly reports to the MDEQ.
