Mock, Roos & Associates Inc. | Wellington, Florida | 2008 - Ongoing

Village of Wellington Section 24 Impoundment DesignBCI, with Mock, Roos & Associates, Inc., designed the Section 24 Impoundment and related features and facilities. The design was completed in accordance with South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) requirements for dam design. The project includes the design of a Wellington standard electric infl ow pump station (PS9); design of infl ow/outfl ow water control structures; design of conveyance infrastructure; design of a levee system capable of containing required stormwater volumes; design of a wetland/park system consistent with the master plan; and all associated construction services.

BCI tasks included:

  • Field exploration: preliminary site reconnaissance studies, classification of soil samples, and pump testing of piezometers; SPT and auger borings; laboratory consolidation and shear strength tests; data analysis
  • Geotechnical engineering analysis: steadystate, transient, and rapid drawdown analyses using SEEP/W; slope stability analyses using SLOPE/W; total and differential embankment settlement evaluation; bearing capacity
  • Hydrological and hydraulic analyses: flood routing, sunny day, 10-year and 100- year simulations, hazard classifi cation, wind/wave studies using ICPR, HECRAS, and SWAN
  • Geotechnical report and Basis of Design Report (BODR) containing geotechnical and hydrological analyses and recommendations for embankment design
  • 30, 60, 100% design including construction drawings and technical specifi cations of Wellington
  • Coordination with Village of Wellington staff and contractor
  • Review of contractor bidding & construction oversight
