Scope
BCI has been providing comprehensive field and technical services to the St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) for several years. Our work has involved on- site support to nearly ten SJRWMD project managers on a full-time basis. Services that are provided include:

Determine long-term trends and status of river and water body water quality
-
Determine spatial and temporal trends in plankton communities and how they relate to water quality
-
Providing phycological, taxonomic, and toxicological services on an as needed basis
-
Responding to algal blooms via sampling and analysis
-
Establish biologically relevant restoration targets and aid in the development of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for the lower St. Johns River
-
Determine the effect on grass bed extent and growth in the St. Johns River resulting from limited light availability
-
Evaluate the association between agricultural runoff and tributary water quality
-
Utilize PAR, water quality and plankton data to support the identification of areas of impaired water quality for federal and state classification and restoration targets

Coordination of a statewide cyanobacteria assessment sponsored by FDEP’s Harmful Algal Bloom Task Force
-
Conduct submerged aquatic vegetation and wetland plant monitoring surveys
-
Assist in developing and establishing minimum flows and levels on numerous lake systems
-
Conduct water quality and sediment monitoring, wildlife surveys, and sediment sampling and analysis

Provide database management and programming support
