Scope
BCI was selected by the Desoto County BOCC as part of our Continuing Engineering Agreement to complete the design and permitting associated with the rehabilitation of CR 760A in Desoto County. This five-mile road section provides a major link between state Route 17 and state Route 31 in South Desoto County, and is used heavily by large trucks. As a result, this road was in very poor condition and characterized by numerous pot holes, broken pavement edges, depressional areas, failing driving surfaces, and substandard clear zone distances. Because of the poor roadway condition and impending safety issues, the BOCC was under heavy pressure by system users to repair or replace the roadway section.
The project involved the complete rehabilitation and widening of the roadway via milling and selective removal of pavement and base in areas exhibiting foundation failure. Multiple failing drainage structures were replaced and guard rails were installed where appropriate. Despite limited funding capabilities, the design of the rehabilitation effort was completed within the schedule and budget requirements.
