Scope
BCI was selected by Volusia County to provide as needed water resource and environmental services. Our first assignment was to assist the county in the management and implementation of their countywide TMDL program.
Activities completed and to be performed include:
-
Download STORET/ gather available data
-
Identify water-body status
-
Develop status report– planning list
-
Conduct as-needed monitoring/ offersuggested revisions to existing monitoring program
-
Develop assessment report– verified list
-
Use attainability assessment- (Optional)
-
Define target via modeling (TMDL)
-
Identify pollutant load sources
-
Allocate load reductions
-
Prepare and initiate implementation plan
-
Assessment of plan
-
Adapt plan as needed
Defining the TMDL is a very important first step, but only provides a target. It doesn’t define how to reach the goal. The key to implementation will be the development of a Basin Management Plan that incorporates frequent monitoring and subsequent plan adjustments.
