Lake County Water Authority | Lake County, Florida | 2002 - Ongoing
BCI was hired by the Lake County Water Authority to perform engineering services on Lake Beauclair, Lake Griffin, and the Clermont and Harris chain of lakes.
In the Lake Beauclair project, BCI designed the navigability, habitat, and water quality of the 1,100-acre Lake Beauclair by:
- Removal of more than 1.2 million cubic yards of organic sediment
- A partial-lake pump-down
- Installation of aquatic vegetation
BCI provided a preliminary design report for the project. This entailed assessing the water and sediment quality for nutrients, pesticides, metals, and geotechnical/agronomic characteristics to determine the beneficial uses of the dredged material. It also required BCI to measure lake bathymetry and define the thickness and distribution of undesirable sediments for removal.
BCI provided evaluation, design, and construction support services of the Lake Griffin to remove sediments from more than 30 canals ringing the Lake and to place those sediments in a confined section of a subsided muck farm. This project required BCI’s expertise in water resource engineering, hydraulic system design, water quality treatment, geotechnical engineering, and construction support services.
BCI developed a systematic approach for managing its signage for the water bodies on the Clermont and Harris chains of lakes. The project included information compilation, county resolution and ordinance review assistance, permitting and permit updates, and signs database and mapping.
