BCI completed detailed event and continuous modeling of a 120,000-acre mine property to support Life-of-Mine permit approval through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
BCI performed the following tasks in support of the Life-of-Mine permit:
- Conducted integrated modeling of select basins within critical environmental settings
- Utilized the ArcInfo family GIS product to conduct overlay analysis and mapping in support of modeling and mines/ reclamation planning
- Assessed groundwater impacts and local stream base flow using continuous HSPF and MODFLOW modeling
- Conducted detailed hydraulics of the Upper Suwannee River Basin using HECRAS to assess flood impacts
- Developed a detailed map set of all hydrologic-related thematic maps, mining sequencing, reclamation plans, wetland locations and character
The project demonstrates BCI’s ability to provide comprehensive hydrologic, hydraulic and integrated modeling, GIS database development, reclamation and mine planning, and regulatory permitting services.
