BCI is working with GJKA, Inc. to assist the city of Auburndale with the planning, design, and permitting of a regional recreational complex on the east side of Lake Myrtle. The Florida Youth Soccer Association (FYSA), the Polk County Board of County Commissioners, and Polk County Tourism & Sports Marketing (PCTSM) partnered with the city of Auburndale in development of the park. This new facility is estimated to contribute $50 million per year to central Florida’s economy.
The site includes eight soccer fields—four are NCAA regulated and one contains a stadium setting on both sides—and nine baseball fields—five are little league and five are NCAA championship fields with stadium setting. The site also will feature the future headquarters of the FYSA and PCTSM, concessions stands with bathrooms, a playground "Tot Lot," a corporate event lawn, and batting cages. Planning efforts are underway to add a number of complimentary uses to the park including water sports, a YMCA facility, swimming, and various eco-recreational elements.
BCI designed a conceptual engineering site plan to include 23 stormwater facilities, 5,000 linear feet of force main, 5,000 liner feet of potable water main, all nine baseball fields and all eight soccer fields, 1.5 miles of the city roadway, a 40 hp lift station, 200,000 cubic yards of earthwork, wetlands avoidance and wetlands treatment of stormwater. BCI has been responsible for all site design elements including geotechnical investigations, hydrologic modeling, environmental assessment, ecological characterization, utilities design, and stormwater management, grading and drainage
