56th Street Continuous
Deflection Separation Unit

Scope
This project included the design, permitting, and plans preparation for the placement of a Continuous Deflection Separation (CDS) Unit in a highly urbanized basin in Temple Terrace. A 60-inch outfall pipe discharging into the Hillsborough River was considered a high priority outfall, since the City of Tampa pulls its drinking water from the river. There was no available property for more traditional BMP types, and this BMP was considered the most appropriate for the location and conditions.
Tasks included contamination assessment, pollutant load estimation for the basin, survey and drainage design, and maintenance of traffic, permitting, and construction specifications.
