Drainage Evaluation &
Stormwater Retrofit Design
|
|
Scope
BCI assisted in evaluating pollutant loading from stormwater runoff into the Upper Palatlakaha River Chain of Lakes near Clermont, Florida, as part of a drainage basin evaluation project conducted for Lake County. Evaluation tasks involved pollutant load modeling and selection of priority basins.
As a continuation of Phase I of this project, Lake County retained BCI under our Master Water Resources Consultant contract to implement stormwater retrofit projects determined to be the highest priority during Phase I of the project from design and engineering through construction. Phase II of the project required completion of the following tasks:
sConceptual stormwater BMP design
sDesign and plans preparation of selected BMPs
sGeotechnical investigation
sPermitting
sConstruction cost estimates
sConstruction management assistance and as-built certification
The three high-priority projects selected for implementation included areas with characteristics that favored linear stormwater treatment systems and the most efficient use of the existing right-of-way. Based on the field assessment conducted by Lake County and BCI during Phase I, it was determined the first project would involve preparing designs that addressed several outfalls. The projects involved designing French drains and swales to treat stormwater in areas where available land was scarce. Public meetings were held and input was considered. The three projects were successfully implemented and constructed for the three highest priority locations within the basin.
BCI also completed an assessment and design for improvements to lakefront portions of the Lakeshore Drive right-of-way.
